goldenlangur Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 last snow - tanka with mists over the valley my mind drifts the last snow chills prayer wheels are silent Many thanks to Tink who pointed out the typo in last line: "prayer wheels" instead of prayer wheel" as in the first post. goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
Aleksandra Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Ahamm... goldenlangur... What I can say? Wonderful tanka again. Wonderful expressed. The last expression it is so not usual and I love it. prayer wheel are silent That line tells a lot, and explains the sense of the poem, and gives one wonderful end of this poem, like an answer of the drifted mind and when the last snow chills. Much enjoyed Thank you for sharing Aleksandra Quote The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth - Jean Cocteau History of Macedonia

tonyv Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Such desolation in this one, Golden, especially in the stillness of the last lines: the last snow chills prayer wheel are silent. All I can see are endless steppes. Unknown what lies beyond the horizon. Ominous. Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
goldenlangur Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Hi Tony, My apologies for this late response to your considered reading of this tanka. Like you, the demands of my work do take their toll on writing! I'm very grateful that wth the "desolation" you also sensed the "ominous" here. Thank you for a rewarding review, goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
