goldenlangur
Hello Aleksandra, So glad that you like the lighter tone in this tanka. Publish a book of tanka - now there's a thought and a dream I wish I would have the courage to pursue. Thank you very much, goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.

tonyv
I like the surprise rhyme that shows up in the first lines: head to head, we lieunder a cerulean sky when did we last feel carefree? If only I could remember ... I like how you then go on (even in this short tanka) to give two examples alluding to youth -- ransacking our father's drinksand stealing the King's walnuts! Sometimes I want to go back, sometimes I don't. goldenlangur
Hi Tony, You make a very good point here: tonyv wrote: I like the surprise rhyme that shows up in the first lines... Tony It seems rhymes were used in tanka and even haiku - not as a regular rhyme scheme but a couple of lines, sometimes. Kenneth Yasuda discusses this aspect in detail. Thank you very much for your perceptive reading. Not only your work but your reviews grow in depth and range. But you're right - not all memories are worth recalling!
