Aleksandra Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Very interesting lines and title itself is so much eruptive. I like it a lot. Deep... Aleksandra Quote The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth - Jean Cocteau History of Macedonia

JoelJosol Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 At first glance, the association of rain and ditch and death made me think of "dead in the water", a state of nothingness, no progress towards anything. But, I checked out Rumi. If my reading is correct, this is Jalaluddin Rumi, the Persian poet and mystic. Then, it alludes to the return of the "reed" back to its roots. waxwings Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) when I die,so I'll taste the rain, lay me face up in a ditch You might have noticed I am the guy who wishes poets would use 'normal' everyday English to insure their readers would think of them as competent writers in any genre. I believe the title should be "Rumi and I". The question of using "me" or "I" has lmg been a sore point for literate people. Of course, it depends whether your title is to say "Rumi and I agree" or "They were looking for Rumi and me." The poem is a neat one, but, in everyday English" you and I would be more likely to write the 3rd line before the 2nd line because, in this case, you want to be laid face up so that you can then taste the rain rather than the mud.
