tonyv Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 How true, Tinker. A fantastic example of "Runic Verse." I love the layout and the repetition. But I'm curious ... What does the "Os" in the title mean? Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
Tinker Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Hi Tony, Thank you for reading this. I was hoping it wouldn't be lost over here in the overflow. I kind of liked writing this piece. The Os is the name of the funny F symbol which is the rune equivalent for the word "language". There are 4 F shaped symbols, each with a little different slant to the letter, each with its own name and meaning. One of the F's mean "wealth" and is called Feoh, another is "the oak" called Ac the other means "ash" and is called Aesc. It might be fun to use each of the rune symbols and write about them. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
tonyv Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks for the explanation, Tink. I always liked alphabets and stuff like runes and hieroglyphics. Are you sure you don't want this moved to the main poetry showcase? Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
Tinker Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks Tony, I was just following the rules, 2 poems in 1 day, I thought one was supposed to come to the overflow forum. If there isn't much activity going on over at the main pavilion go ahead and move it. I am interested in other's reactions. I write so much in isolation, I am never sure how my stuff would be received by others. I don't know anybody in the real world who is interested in poetry other than I am brain washing my granddaughters and have the 2 oldest ones writing. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
goldenlangur Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Hi Tink, How wonderful to see you using all these different forms and judging f from this poem you seem to be enjoying this. An initiation in its own right. :D You recreate that sense of the mystical search associated with the Runes well here. Thank you. Tinker Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 Hi GL, Yes, some of this is fun. At least it offers new challenges and new stuff to write about. If you want to jump in and find some form that might suit your mood, I would love to have some of your poems to add to the genre and forms articles as examples. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com

Benjamin Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Your efforts help to make this an Aladdin's cave in which to peruse jewels of poetic form. Benjamin. Quote
