Portrait of Religion(R)

Recommended Posts

prior to reading this I have to say that this is a vault poem, the little things such as punctuation aren't as worked on and it's presentation is different compared to most of my pieces

I've put up but I purposely keep it this way to show how one grows in the art they choose to put their mind toward; and to my recollection the full explanation of this has yet to be fully seen without my help due to how much layering of imagery I put in this. So I'll just let you read it and see what each one of you see in it -- it was my first attempt at highly graphic writing and a good precursor to the canto series I am going to be posting given that I developed my main style from this point on(this in particular being influenced by Marilyn Mansons Bio and the writing form of Bret Easton Ellis's American Psycho.)

- enjoy

I stare in fear, this 'It' in front of me.

Features grotesque, 'It' stares.

Hopeless blackholes, right bloodshot.

Gashes, sores, cuts all over face, bloody waterfalls.

Veins stressed and black, 'It' stares with teeth of jagged hell.

The 'Abbarations' body even worse, purple, black and blue all over.

Gashes, rotting wounds, right ribs showing the rot from inside.

Left arm bare, expressing upon me dirty, decacying marrow.

This creature lifts its right, forearm a muscular showcasing, tattered, torn skin connecting the bicep.

Muscles losing tension, revealing third eye, twitching rapidly, completely bloodshot.

Eye connected to bony, muscular, sharply nailed fingers staring at me.

This 'Abbaration' speaks to me:

"Thou are mine son, thou hath walked through mine valley of death. Look upon thou reflection and know that I am in thee"

This 'Demons' words penetrates my ears, entering my mind, hypnotizing me to its will, steps back.

Shadow reveals male features, a penis, bloated, limp, black and lifeless.

Hair non-existant, Shrivelled sac, been dead for eons.

Legs discolored, more so then torso and head, this 'Demon' somehow stands on cut achilles tendons.

'He' crouches, leaps forward into me.

Violence, hate, disgust, love and lust fill my eyes.

Family becomes enemy, friend becomes foe.

This 'Demon', 'Abbaration', 'It' has taken me over, showin' me pleasures and pains.

"This could all be yours", 'He' communicates to me.

Wake up, blood, torn shirt, scratch marks.

Wander dazilly to the mirror, broken.

"Blood all over"

Walls bleeding, the hallway.

Room, bodies.

Mom, skinned, naked, slash marked, hung.

"The Isles"

Sister, headless, shelved bloody skull.

"Yet to boil"

Jack, lobotomized, mutilated, organs scattered.

Hear boiling water, proceed to the kitchen.

Smile on face, boiling flesh, take a bite.

"Too salty"

Use the barbeque sauce.

Pot, boiling heart, too small to be human.

"Must be Jacks"

Cross reflection in window, "Blood all over"

Crimson reflection.

I have become this demon, discolored, laserated.

Smile on my face, smear blood on my lips.

"Guess they're worth something"

by Jeremy Swyck

"Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends.

There is a secret song at the center of the world, Joey, and its sound is like razors through flesh."

"I don't believe you."

"Oh come, you can hear its faint echo right now. I'm here to turn up the volume.

To press the stinking face of humanity into the dark blood of its own secret heart."

"There's a starving beast inside my chest
playing with me until he's bored
Then, slowly burying his tusks in my flesh
crawling his way out he rips open old wounds

When I reach for the knife placed on the bedside table
its blade reflects my determined face
to plant it in my chest
and carve a hole so deep it snaps my veins

Hollow me out, I want to feel empty"
-- "Being Able To Feel Nothing" by Oathbreaker

"Sky turns to a deeper grey

the sun fades by the moon

hell's come from the distant hills

tortures dreams of the doomed

and they pray, yet they prey

and they pray, still they prey"
-- "Still They Prey" by Cough

Very captivating writing, Jeremy. Horror is my favorite category for movies, etc., so I could visualize everything perfectly. But I always appreciate additional background info and explanations, so don't hesitate to provide more notes.

Do you like GOTTFRIED HELNWEIN? If you follow the link you can see his works and also some pictures of Manson at Helnwein's studio.

I enjoyed this "canto." Do post more of the series.
