April sunrise wakes

poppy field from slumber

gold greets my eyes

morning breeze

floats off the Pacific

to moisten my cheek

in dawn’s stillness

flutter of butterfly wings

is the only sound

Hi Tink,

It's wonderful to have haiku posted here and three is a bonus!

The reflective tone of the first is magical! I love the echoing rhyme in "flutter" and "butterfly". There's a lovely sensuous note in the second haiku:

"... moisten my cheek"

And the final haiku has drama in the colours you evoke:

"gold" and "poppy" - one imagines crimson heads.

Thank you for a great haiku moment and more.

Welcome back, Tinker! I enjoyed these haikus, especially the part about the morning breeze, the reference to the Pacific, and where you write gold greets my eyes.
