badger11
A child hides another pebble beneath our apple tree. A black pebble, ovular like a smooth seed. In later years it may remind him to skim the sea, skip several waves before finally resting.

tonyv
What struck me were the line breaks in the first verse. The verse could be read as two statements -- "a child hides," followed by "another pebble beneath our apple tree" -- or as one: "A child hides another pebble beneath our apple tree." It opens up the poem and the mind to possibilities.
