A child hides

another pebble

beneath our apple tree.

A black pebble,

ovular

like a smooth seed.

In later years

it may remind him

to skim the sea,

skip several waves

before finally

resting.

I skipped, like a stone along this magical piece- at once dream like and concrete- Well, well done Badge!

What struck me were the line breaks in the first verse. The verse could be read as two statements -- "a child hides," followed by "another pebble beneath our apple tree" -- or as one: "A child hides another pebble beneath our apple tree." It opens up the poem and the mind to possibilities.
