dr_con Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The Sojourner Temporary homes I’m moving again away from or following something anything Other than their broken fantasies shattered in places I understand Like my dreams of buying the family house for its sense of comfort and finding it has traveled to a completely different sprawl than the one remembered those fallow fields hidden streams unkempt orchards discovered built and abandoned tree forts fire-pits hidden treasure left in old wells by the last settlers who believed their thoughts and feelings were the brick and mortar that kept the wild out as I did only to find these communal walls of suffering and shared pain only served to keep us in. David W. Parsley Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Nice one, doc. Has a sense of displacement perpetuated down the generations, confounding the desire for heritage and anchoring, while at the same time chafing against confines. Stanza two felt a little less original than the first and third, but overall fine work. - Dave Quote
tonyv Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Enjoyed the temporality, the wabi-sabi, Juris. The look back in the last verse, the hard look at one's expectations and ultimate realizations, takes me ... home.
