dr_con
Fixing the Omens Lived on sugar and coffee today Don’t want to admit how little money I have set aside You know how it is All the women I attract were suicidal So you follow your heart and the omens someplace strange and different a land of big dreams and little dogs and until the feral bright green parrot cawed in the tree I didn’t know what I was doing here That’s how it is this life Of awkward moments long pauses sudden glances I worry about the collapse feeling fine My housemate gave me a ride back from that cheap food place in the possessed car It purred when I got in a far cry from the demonic roar it let out when I was not dreaming You understand of course why I no longer drink but spent my last few dollars On fine sake and beer. Tinker
Hi DC, This is really good! I am with you all of the way through. The poem flows with logic through surprising images.. And I get it... The feral parrot is genius... How So California that is...So you left SF for LA, hmmm. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
David W. Parsley
Sigh. That isn't fair, Tink. I don't "get" the poem at all, even less after reading your exposition! I just kind of like the leaping cadence of image shift, the sense of change that sets upon us or we set upon the flow of life. Other than that, I confess to being lost. (In LA!) An enjoyable tour, Doc. - David
dr_con
Thanks Tinker & David- This in a bizarre way is what I call a 'shopping list' poem- If you've never had that particular list it can (and does) become confusing;-) I appreciate both your experiences with this and thank you for taking the time to read;-) J&DC- lost in LA due to trying to 'Fix the Omens' Which I'm pretty sure is the name of my next collection;-) Quote thegateless.org
tonyv
I think it's remarkably fluid, Juris. A typical day? I find that the same things are on my mind every day, like every day I'm on the same journey in a slightly different dream.
