Frank E Gibbard Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 This musical reference in your poem I googled is elucidated for me here: www.beatlesbible.com/features/hard-days-night-chord/ It is amazing the musical details submitted on the subject by musos on that site. Your tangential threading of the tonic scale or whatever chimes well IMVHO, (you can tell I'm a dummy in this area) Benj, into the weave of other cultural aspects of human record viz. quote "Social, literary, psychological--- theological. Latin rites that imply knowledge and power. Aboriginal chants and--- “The pointing of the bone.” Quote
Benjamin Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 My thanks for your input Frank. As it says on your web page the original studio recording was a compound effort: Yet, "the most commonly used version for a solo guitar is a G7sus4: a chord barred at the 3rd fret." But there is more to this poem than the clang of a guitar chord that reached millions: I'll leave that up to the reader. Had I chosen to be verbose with my mind's “brainstorm” of tangent issues (which is pivotal); I may have been tempted to write an essay on communication : organized religion since Darwin, Albert Schweitzer, enlightenment over ignorance, thought control; or even the creation of God as a reflection of the imagination of Man. But being a simple man, I'll settle for those last three lines. Effective... If the 'listener' believes and understands. Quote
tonyv Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Compact and intriguing, Geoff. It seems to span millennia ... like a Bible code. Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
