douglas Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Sugar I spilt some sugar today in my sink It fell like brown, crystalline snow As my heart and emotions have fallen Since I’ve been here in this perplexing and beautiful space That we call a lifetime And as I watched the particles dissolve within droplets of water I thought That’s exactly how it should be Sugar sweetening the water of life And we make mistakes And stir things up as we move through our lives We add our individual flavour But that doesn’t mean we have the recipe right It just means that we’re doing our thing And casting sweetness about Some will find it just right Some will want to add a little more And others will choose to abstain from sugary emotions entirely And that’s ok Because it's through sweetness and an acquired taste That we find our truth... Aleksandra Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Ah, Douglas, this is a nice piece of poetry. It offers some peaceful reading, to me. The opening of the poem I loved the most. It has a great start. Then it starts some narrative part, which I don't really like it, in general, but it fits ok in your poem. :) That is something that I am trying to improve in my own poetry. But yes, you did it, just fine. I am happy to read your poetry again :). Quote The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth - Jean Cocteau History of Macedonia
Tinker Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Wow Douglas, This was just so easy to read, fluid imagery that I totally enjoyed flowing with throughout. This was a very simple yet great piece of writing. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
