inspired by the canadain rock band April Wine song "Just Between You and Me"

 

Poem, just between us,

 

Just between you and me

i see the stars above shining so bright

and still i want to dance with you

and walk with you holding your hands

 

winter, summer, or spring

you see it doesn't really matter to me

we fell out of love so fast it seems

you were swimming in a spring

and still i could see your heart bleed

 

so i got down on my hands and knees

and prayed to god with weeping tears

you see somewhere deep in my heart

i still love you even though my eyes are closed

 

you see the stars shining above

they are the holy angels twinkling to us down below

another day and we both will still survive

every now and then fools still fall in love

 

but to one another we are so far apart

now that the years have been long and hard

oh i look back at we had and shared

though it has been twenty plus years

 

they still play the song

you hold dear to your heart

please remember me somewhere

for tonight the stars fall from heaven

 

and the angels are weeping on us

as the tears roll down our faces

i want to sing you my song

but the lights in the sky have faded
