My Last Words

Peach tree in the background

Flowers growing in the yard

The wind is blowing on my face

and still my tears

are falling on the asphalt.

I whisper words of love in your ears

but you threw it all away

like a sword cutting off my hands

and still I love you so much.

My inept heart sings to you

where the butterflies flutter

and birds fly in the air.

You made my heart bleed

with the dagger in your hand

that pierced me so

and my dying words fade in the dark.

I will love you till the end of time.

(echoing in the cold winter air!)

David W. Parsley

Unusually dense with startling, perceptive imagery and turn of phrase, Victor. A poetic treat transmuted from authentic pain.

I think this a poem in itself. Marvellous lines.
