dcmarti1 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (Green Lantern is a bar in DC. Or, it used to be.) He astonished me with his willingness: filling my mouth with himself. He delighted me with his repetition: filling my hands with his face. He answered me with his refusal: emptying my heart with his silence. Quote
Benjamin Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I like the irony of the word "Tyranny" used in this social context. The poem over all reminded of the lyrics to Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" and in particular that line "Everybody's looking for something." B. Quote
Larsen M. Callirhoe Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 hi Marti. Interesting, i would not have thought this to be an R rated poem. i have written lines many a times with suggestive emotives like yours written here. now you got me thinking. raw fueled emotions showed here in a lovely poetic style. victor Quote Larsen M. dcmarti1 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Annie Lennox comparison? I'll take it, B. :) Vic, I tried to make the style consistent: the first line always has he and me, the second line is always about his "something", and the last is always mine & his. It is NEAR syllabic, but not really. Raw? Yes, that was a disappointing night of 2 ships passing. Thanks, guys. Quote
tonyv Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 So much going on in this one. An intriguing setting established by the title and its corresponding note, nostalgia, regret -- this short, appealing piece imparts a familiar sense of "linger" to which I can definitely relate. Thank you for this. Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
