Larsen M. Callirhoe
i wonder why i wonder why the stars do shine on us at night. i wonder why my lover is not by my side right now. i wonder why the fish swim in the sea you see i wanna make love all night long with you my love and hold you tight like there is no tomorrow. to dream of you is all i wanna do. i listen to our favorite song on the radio that is playing in my new car. to bad the words to this song could not be with us all our lifes. i wonder why fruit grows on trees and taste so good to the eyes. you see i wonder why i can't hold you tight by my side all my life. you see im a dreamer been one my whole life. i love you so much elizabeth. i wanna dance with you under the moonlight and see your reflection in the pond that is beside us. your soft reflection in the water only makes me appreciate you more. you see im a dreamer been one my whole life. the day we meet i will treat you like this. i will take you to other worlds in your dreams and show you the stars at night. i wanna dance with you because it feels lik im in the clouds everytime i hear your lovely voice. i want musicians tto serinade you as we eat our favorite foods. we would make a toast of our love for one another. the red wine would get us drunk as we drank to our hearts content. i wonder why lovers do fight sometimes the wind feels just right i will always love you. i had to write it in words. so you had something of me to always hold close to your heart when i am not near you. the birds chirp away in the morning telling us the sun is up. i do wonder why you cry for no reason at all. you see i really love you. i wish everyday we could hear our children playing in the rain but they do grow up finding their own lovers in this crazy world we do call home. but most of all i want to sit on the beach from sunrise to sunset with you the waves would be so soothing as we watch the sunrise and the sunset. i would hope our lifes would always be this constant. you see i wonder about so many things. but most of all i do not trust god the way i should. you see i wanna life with you forever and he has other plans for us. i wish we could dance under the moonlight because all i wanna do is hold you tight and see your reflection in the pond by our favorite resturant as we sip wine getting drunk. to bad these moments could not last forever. goldenlangur
Hi Victor, Perhaps I'm wrong in my reading of your poem but I interpreted this poem as a kind of a dream - waking dream in which your deepest desires and longing take centre stage and you float in this realm of fulfillment which is painfully different from your everyday life. I love these lines: Larsen M. Callirhoe wrote: i wish everyday we could hear our children playing in the rain but they do grow up finding their own lovers in this crazy world we do call home. ...... you see i wonder about so many things. but most of all i do not trust god the way i should. I felt that the deep seated longing and hope juxtaposed with a niggling doubt of the powers of the divine presence to alleviate your pain and suffering is the leitmotif of your poem which is such a mournful outpouring of feelings and thoughts. As ever, much moved by your verse, Victor, even if I got your intent wrong. goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying. Callirhoe
hi goldenlangur, you were right on the mark with this one. i am pretty predictable. im a dreamer been one my whole life. just have to learn some dreams don't come true and learn to make as many dreams of mine become not only a possibility but a reality. take care friend. victor Quote Larsen M. goldenlangur
Hi again Victor, To phrase it better - you're poetically unpredictable and keep you readers entranced and engaged! Yes, I too am delighted when you or some other reader sees something in a piece quite unintended! goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying. Aleksandra
What a wonderful poem and then a conversation . I was reading what about you talk and I was wondering what means the word predictable / unpredictable so I used the translator , and now I don't know what to say , I see all of us are predictable, and sure sometimes not. Victor this poem shows again how romantic you are as a poet. You are using here wonderful picturesque imageries in which I have enjoyed: but most of all i want to sit on the beach from sunrise to sunset with you the waves would be so soothing as we watch the sunrise and the sunset. ... and many others. Yes you are eternal dreamer as all of us. At least nobody can't take our dreams, even God. Everything we can lose but dreams - no, same is with feelings. So it is better to dream than just watch into reality what often hurts a lot. tonyv
The first thing I noticed is how you juxtapose seemingly naive musings like "i wonder why the stars/do shine on us at night" and "i wonder why the fish/swim in the sea" with anguished sophistication: "i wonder why my lover/is not by my side right now." This effective formula is repeated successfully elsewhere in the poem, like in the part where you mention the beautiful fruit on trees and then go on to wonder why you can't hold the object of your affection. This part I like: i listen to our favorite song on the radio that is playing in my new car. It stresses how material things, like a new car, don't mean anything, when one is denied that which s/he wants. Yes, "sometimes the wind feels just right." Too bad/these moments could not last forever. Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
