eclipse
I left the choir and now sing alone, pray in public, whisper leaves back onto trees. I walk across the Humber bridge instead of driving, below me the ghostly hunters pass, one of them raises a bottle to offer a drink, I drop a bottle of wine with a pinch of blood and the whales-men get drunk, the whale swims into resurrection mistakes me for a mermaid and starts singing. dcmarti1
LOVE that first sentence! Militant, but not destructive. Powerful. Other than MAYBE needing a comma between resurrection and mistakes (in my browser, line #3)....pretty perfect.
David W. Parsley
Barry, I really like this poem. Takes me someplace I feel I should recognize, brings the sense of what I must remember about the strangeness of the world and its infiinite variety, its capacity to excite wonder. - Dave
