fdelano Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Passover Seems strange now that G'ma never talked about Jesus, only God. Old Testament woman. In grade school we sang somewhat in tune to the teacher's pitch pipe, from thin green-backed hymnals of even such wonders as Brahms Lullaby, after someone read aloud from the Scripture of the day. We were all lily-white and smug in our superiority over the “colored” in their own wooden shack school on the red old clay of Georgia. Every night in my fear-filled bed, I talked with God the Father, my imaginary friend. I learned that bunnies don't lay brightly colored eggs, eventually that lying awake with a flashlight produced no Santa, just a used bike. The thought still remains from the teen who wondered that even if people lied about Easter and Santa, surely they wouldn't fool me about God. Church hymns still often tug at my melancholy heartstrings. Today Pope Francis washes the feet of felons. Quote
dcmarti1 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Today Pope Francis washes the feet of felons. One article made mention that two of the twelve people were female. An especially poignant piece, appropriate to the season. Bravo. Quote
David W. Parsley Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Agreed, a thoughtful piece, probing the tests of faith that stake the path of self discovery we all have trod, each with its own settings and outcomes. Some contests recur throughout our lives. Really this is one of the more sincere, relevant, and skillful treatments I have seen. And what a title! There is much matter here. Thank you, Paco - very well done! - Dave Quote
