dcmarti1 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Three short, complete poems (cameos) from the series. Canto the second I stood Beside myself when I lifted the paten and cup. Unworthy, It must have been my better self That I watched, offering bread And wine. Canto the third I knelt When I was pulled down To my knees upon the cold stones. Unworthy, It was the numinous and not By rote that I was moved from The pew. Canto the fourth I sobbed At the bare altar, Knowing I was alone and most Unworthy. When is a chapel more holy Than when it is empty, save For one? Quote
Tinker Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Hi Marti, These are beautiful. "Lord I am unworthy to receive you, but simply say the word and I shall be healed." I love the repetition linking what could be stand alone poems or a complete poem made up of 3 septets. I love the way you make form work for you instead of the other way around. You keep the frame recognizable yet fresh and new. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
