The Thread

We are born dead
and from our very first breath
our expiration is both sealed and manifest
life and death are
exactly the same thing

All that is alive lives within its sacred corpse
there is but one state of being

One silver-black thread
intertwined and coiled within
each cell and molecule
within your body

The moment that the egg is transformed
inevitability surges in and disappears
as the billions of little breaths
and illusions
that have come before it

And time is the ultimate phantom

Pure Nothingness

An infinitesimally small space
of flickering
within the Great Continuum
that is both God and the Void

Brief splinters of darkened consciousness that reel
quivering within an expanse
of unfathomable blackness and secret stellar explosions
that we will someday fully comprehend.

To receive love, you have to give it...

Douglas, you have expressed my thinking for many years, but penned so well, I am jealous.

So eloquently penned. I have a dear friend who believes much the same thing.

You have said this in a way that causes my mind to experience two separate feelings; one, of course, brings the widening of the eyes and the sharp intake of breath, associated with shock, the other is much calmer with the hovering thought , 'well, of course'. Read several times and may come back, again. Well enjoyed, Douglas.
