dcmarti1
At twenty-twoI beheld you nakedand everything else disappearedin that instant, save your diaphanousform, eternal, ever ageless;only I saw you lastat twenty-four.At twenty-threeI would dream of you atfifty: matchless gray hair changed you;nothing on your body betrayed your age;not one wrinkle nor extra pound;only I saw you lastat twenty-four.At twenty-fourI had not yet slept withanother man, much less with you.We never saw the hearth I imaginednor the blizzard I petitioned;only I saw you lastat twenty-four.At twenty-fiveI did finally sleepwith another man: there was nohearth nor blizzard, just your face in my mindand your name upon my lips whenI came; then I saw youas twenty-four. dr_con
Heartwarmingly melancholy. A very vivid, very human emotion brilliant capyured. There is something Ginsbergian about this- Maybe its the want and vivid remembrance. Loved it. Juris Quote thegateless.org
tonyv
Something makes me wonder if this love has in fact been realized. There's something incredibly sad about this: ... We never saw the hearth I imaginednor the blizzard I petitioned ... ... there was nohearth nor blizzard, just your face in my mind ... I hope it all worked out. I'm a sucker for happy endings! Tony It was in the Navy. First guy I had a crush on. We were friends, and even worked on the Casualty Control Training Team near the end of our enlistments. Get this, we got out of the Navy at the same time, got jobs at GE, both in Reston, Virginia. His wife, 2 kids, he, & I rented a townhouse for the first 6 months. Irony. tonyv
Well, it probably wasn't me, I've never been in the Navy. But I did stay in a townhouse in Reston, VA for a week once! (Oh, and I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once, too, lol.)
