The Longing of Love

The Longing of Love

I've been traversing the globe
On aeroplanes
On ferries
On trains
And I've felt the pain
That comes from the two of us
Not having found each other – over and over again

And no matter where I've been
No matter all I've seen
I've had to witness it alone

Without you
Without you

How I long for us
But we’re wrenched from one another for now
Two spirits serenaded by longing
A mournful melancholic quiet song
The melody of unrequited lovers separated for so long

I've searched for you on foreign streets
And within crowds of people
I've come to meet
I've been present and lovely
Attentive and glad
But the longer I’m without you
I grow inwardly sad

I feel you on cool evenings
Below the full moon
And as I walk through the forest’s dappled
Stillness at noon

And despite this frustration
The waiting and pain something tells
Me we’ll make it
Into each other’s arms again

My lover
My heart
My friend
My truth

My lover
My heart
My friend
My truth

To receive love, you have to give it...

Not having found each other – over and over again

Very emotionally charged and, hopefully, universally understandable by all. The repeating last 2 stanzas are quite appropriate for an ending.

"I've searched for you on foreign streets/ and within crowds of people/ I've come to meet"

Interesting concept: how busy lives and circumstance affect the most natural feeling of all.
