favelas and opulence

sunshine and slurry

and who needs war

when there's a substitute

in traits of tribal nature

that feed the masses

heroes and villains

rivals politics and faith

with self-serving duplicity

and like marriage

some would say

becomes a triumph

of imagination

over intelligence

pass the remote dear

its about to start

I like the rant beginning with 'who needs war.' Reminded of an insightful quipo from a few years ago on this forum where I believe Bren said: 'I honestly believe that part of the problem with the US is they never took soccer to heart!' Although it is 'amusing' I think there may be a bit of truth to that: Our tribal rituals are often too well staged, far fewer hooligans, but it keeps the politics out and keeps many a bit stupid;-)

Who needs war (or protests, lol)?!? Never underestimate the power of bread & circus.
