Missing you

The morning church bells ringing across the city

The low cold clouds

Soft light

And silver winter air

The bells have stopped

And now the birds are singing their songs

Dancing from branch to branch together

Oblivious and joyful

I envy them

As I exhale a languid plume of ghostly breath

Quietly acquiescing to

The prospect of yet another day

Without you

To receive love, you have to give it...

Hi Douglas, it could almost be taken for a mis-spelling, but I really like the originality of the birds "signing" their songs, accentuating their obliviousness to the narrator's helpless sense of abandonment. This subtle treatment would seem to render the line, "oblivious and joyful" to be unnecessary.

Thank You,

- Dave

It is indeed a spelling error! Lol. Have fixed it. Thanks Dave.
