Sediment

Our lives are separated by a seawall

of circumstances,

rocks and sand thrown that collect

and build in resentful memory.

Endless waves of life's tide batter

our barrier, but only the salt spray

erupts over fixed stones of illogic.

Eventually the flow finds openings,

chances to present offerings of cool

temperaments that can warm quickly

in a forgiving sun

An extended naturalist metaphor that works very well IMO, and contains a wonderful hint of hope!

Enjoyed!
