David W. Parsley Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Hi Bren, I admire the sensation of dread and isolation, the narrator stranded on an island of lamplight. Far from home. Thanks, - Dave Quote
dcmarti1 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Lamplight? Telegram? A WW2 piece? Father at home waiting for news of the son? Stark scene but emotionally filled. Quote
dedalus Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 A parent/? with a telegram from the government/? bearing bad news, possibly, the death or injury of a son or daughter? It sounds grim and the pool of lamplight plus the telephone makes it worse. This was written as a mood piece covering the opening stage of a possibly continuing tale of horror. On the other hand, he might have just failed his driving test!, Quote Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim
dr_con Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Mood well met! Very clever and you're driver's test comment made me laugh. Well done Bren! Quote thegateless.org
