douglas
To turn away from the madness of the world; Turn and walk away from it. To find the solace your soul yearns for;Discover it beside the lake in serene stillness. To hear the bird fly past,Watch the blossoms swaying,Breathe in the fragrance of the earth. To turn away from the madness of the world;Turn and walk away from it,Claiming the peace your spirit seeks and deserves. Quote To receive love, you have to give it... Tinker
Nice Douglas, " to hear a bird passed". What a line, I heard the bird as I read it. When I typed the quote I realized I used a different spelling for " past" and I had to stop and think about it a second and I think I'm right.. I think past refers to a time long gone where passed refers to the action of passing. Anyway, I really liked your poem. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
douglas
Hi Tink, Thank you for your comments. Please see below for the passed/past debate... preposition 1. to or on the further side of. "he rode on past the crossroads" 2. beyond in time; later than. "by this time it was past 3.30" synonyms: beyond, beyond the limits of, in excess of "he's well past retirement age" adverb 1. so as to pass from one side of something to the other. "a flotilla of glossy limousines swept past" synonyms: along, by, on "they averted their eyes and hurried past" 2. used to indicate the lapse of time. "a week went past and nothing changed" Quote To receive love, you have to give it...
Tinker
Haha Douglas, I think I stand corrected... I looked it up when I first questioned it and my dictionary was vague. Yours gives clearer examples. Thanks. And I still like your poem. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
