Frank E Gibbard
I'm a bit dry of inspiration at the minute. I don't think I posted this here before. Whistle home the cows young farmer’s boy, With a lump in the throat you hope to cure When talking to the comely country maid, Whose winsome smile awaits you by the pail. Let not a nerve twitch neath your dusky hue And scotch the ice breaking plans you made? Or fear will drain even thy rough ruddy cheeks And substitute shy pallour? Nay gird up courage, Allay all doubts, for boldness may yet win the lady.
tonyv
Delightful, Frank! Anticipation rises to the level of nervous excitement. Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
goldenlangur
Hello Frank, What a great tale of courtship against a pastoral background! One is reminded of Thomas Hardy's hero Angel in the Tess of the ..., particularly: ....the comely country maid Whose winsome smile awaits you by the pail. Courage does indeed win a fair 'lady' goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
