I watch him laughing running wild

and dangling upside down from rope

that carefree happy feral child

a pendulum of future hope

in glorious morning of a life

where eagerness and courage tend

to joyful days that have no end

still unaware of toil and strife

till innocence receives the kiss

of knowing-- from an oasis--

awakens the bewilderments

that riddle life long common sense

and reach me only in the sighs

of crooked time through which he flies

Smoothly done B,, a clear progression in the sonnet.

Hi Geoff, This just carried me along in its musical images. I love the alternate, envelope, couplet rhyme pattern, setting it apart from other sonnets forms. Nice.

Geoff, great choice on meter for this sonnet which is a lovely expression of how I sometimes feel. I think back to how I thought and felt growing up, that sense of hopefulness when everything was new. Today I'm relieved that I'm not such a young person just starting out.
