The prompt, face the demons that keep you from writing.

I Can Live With My Demons

The old cliché,
"So much to do, so little time to do it"
is so true.

Phone calls at the office,
"I need this, I need that"
"I had a fender bender"
Is everyone OK?
I still have a day job.

Hands in soapy water,
the back and forth of the vacuum cleaner,
a pile of weeds plucked from the garden.
"Home is where the heart is."

House filled with grandkid's laughter
and screams for the weekend..
Berry picking, County Fair
and always, a walk on the shore.
Kebobs prepped and placed on the grill.

Late night discussion with girls,
Grandma's challenge to read
poetry book over summer.
One almost done, the other only
half way there. Laughter, questions,
competition, I love teenagers.

Writing desk silent
until interrupted by "the littles" playing
video games on my computer.
A little pushing and shoving
but more laughter.
"I could eat them up."

Unwritten poem will wait.

Yes Judi, life gets in the way, in your case it seems in a good way. Unfortunately for me it's not being busy that hinders writing, it's usually stress. I can be completely busy with a great need to write or I can be completely idle with absolutely no motivation, nothing to say.
