Solstice Sundown

A splash of Merlot
streaks the horizon
painting the western sky
in it's most brilliant hues
to shout the delight
of sailors
in a silent song
as the solstice sun drops
into the sea.

Just a thought Tink...there is so much vigour in that opening...

I enjoyed this too but this just a comment - I thought 'painting the western sky/in its most brilliant hues' is redundant. The power of the first two lines were sufficient.
