Hi, my first post on this site. I hope you like. Please forgive me my slow start, I will get around to posting comments on others, probably after this busy week is over!

Wine on a Weeknight

The garden’s looking good, the flower beds

Are flourishing intensely in the sun,

These fruit trees with their blossoms budding red

Will share their love for free with anyone

Whose patience and close care will help them grow,

Who’ll share his thoughts, his heart and soul in turn.

Just sitting here alone you seem to know

It’s time my inward searching was adjourned.

The setting sun, still golden through your hair,

Enough to draw my eyes up from the lawn,

Your face, a sun of love that shows you care

Reveals the heart where constantly I’m drawn.

Two glasses in your hand, old wine to share,

An ageless gift yet grows, still holds us there.

Welcome FrasMac. I'm excited that you've joined. There's no pressure here; members participate as much as they can/desire.

Your title caught me off guard. I thought the topic notification email was a newsletter from one of the sites to which I subscribe! When I opened it I was pleasantly surprised to see it was from PMO: a poem.

I enjoyed this well crafted sonnet, the garden/vineyard setting, how you introduced the human element, the impeccable meter.

So glad you are here Mac.   Nice introduction.  Shakespearean Sonnet in wine country.

I particularly liked:

great line, I could see it.
