JoelJosol Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 [Revision] You are here. There is no site map as guide to find the nearest exit. A scan for the familiar (I am no liar) will not yield the path. Stay and check each word instead. Get drenched in the meaninglessness. Don't look at your watch wondering when will I point the way out. How much time do you have? I only have one period left. [Original] You are here. There is no site map as guide to find the nearest exit. A scan for the familiar (I am no liar), will not yield the path. Stay and dip your eyes on words instead. Get drenched in the meaninglessness. You look at your watch wondering when will I point the way out. How much time do you have? I only have one more period. goldenlangur Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Hello JoelJosol, There's a sense of collision of emotions and expectations perhaps an estrangement between two people : You are here. There is no site map as guide to find the nearest exit. A scan for the familiar (I am no liar), will not yield the path. There's a hint of one being trapped, perhaps at the mercy of the other who has betrayed. The details: will not yield the path, meaninglessness, you look at your watch, How much time do you have? I only have one more period all build up to anger, even accusation. One senses disappointment, rage and pain. goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
JoelJosol Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 GL, I am glad you got that sense. The original title of this piece was supposed to be a metaphor of a worldview of life, "Labyrinth". But, it would give away the poem. Quote "Words are not things, and yet they are not non-things either." - Ann Lauterbach

tonyv Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I like it, Joel. "You are here" can be good or bad, and though the general sense seems to be one of being lost -- A scan for the familiar (I am no liar), will not yield the path -- the title implies that there is a way out.
