badger11
These miles of canal are too overgrown for narrow boats, but not for waterfowl. It's mallard noise mainly, though some moorhen do sprint away into the angry reeds. Lucky me, the lavish rain and spiteful wind has hunkered down dog-walkers and cyclists to home. My solitary frown will find no one to share. These hours are happy ones.
Tinker
Oh Badge, You have taken a normal everyday experience and turned it into a magical journey. I love this poem. This is exactly what I was trying to say when writing my recent blog. It is the details that take the reader right into your world, I can hear the Mallards, see the angy reeds and feel the spiteful wind. This space for the moment, is your world alone and you have invited us in. Thanks A Poem of Place ~~Tink PS How can anyone resist reading after seeing your title? So intriguing. tonyv
This is how I feel when I take to the bike path (or grocery store) during a televised professional sporting event. I especially liked "angry reeds" and the seeming contradiction between "solitary frown" and "happy" hours. badger11
Thank you Tony and Tink. I wasn't frowning, but I actually did this walk last Saturday. I prefer walking to writing, though this time it prompted a poem! cheers Phil
