summayya
THANK YOU As the fading colors of day wet the evening, I whisper your name- Can the sunset ever be thanked?
tonyv
There's a freshness present in the lovely first two lines of this compact lyric. No matter if the day is long and hot, the evening brings with it a cool, thirst-quenching wetness. The "whisper" shows a longing. It indicates a separation from the other, a secret, or both. The last line, with its sunset metaphor, ties in perfectly with the nightfall imagery in the beginning. The question is, of course, rhetorical. The sunset can't help but be there. goldenlangur
Hello summayyah, You convey so well how at dusk feelings and thoughts put aside in the bustle of the day return with intensity. Here the colours of the twilight unleash in the poet a longing and the setting sun is a silent witness. There's a lovely quietness of moment and tone in this poem. Love the detail: wet the evening This poem certainly does not seem 'rusty'. I like the expression: " wet the evening, " and I love the question at the end. Grateful poem - I like it. JoelJosol
Nice poem, summaya. Very picturesque. Is the question part of the poem or a comment? Quote "Words are not things, and yet they are not non-things either." - Ann Lauterbach
