Tinker Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Bloody Portal What’s behind the red door? The night had me restless no sleep since I heard that sound. That eerie, strange strangling coming from across the way, loud enough to travel up to my window. Jumping up and looking out I saw a crack of light as the scarlet entry closed. Was that a foot I saw dragged inside? Something sinister stays within those seemingly normal walls. The climbing chill sends me back to the warmth of my grey down comforter but slumber alludes ‘til daybreaks. ~~ Judi Van Gorder Same Prompt photo: Morning Bedroom Photo, different perspective Saturday Morning Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
tonyv Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 The title is extreme and made opening the poem irresistible. A very "Rear Window" scene unfolds within. I think what floats this between the real and the unreal is Something sinister stays/within those seemingly normal walls. It's the "seemingly normal walls." What is the watcher to do, call for help?!? Or was it merely the imagination? Nice way to set the mood for October, for Halloween. Tinker Posted October 14, 2019 Author Posted October 14, 2019 Thank you all for the comments. I love that a photo can inspire such different moods, depending on the poet's perspective. ~~Judi Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
