Always fascinates me

Nosey as I am.

Nosiness is in a poet’s DNA,

Do you too look closely

At the fly leaf book cover

You may spy, of another?

An essential curiosity

Is in the seeing eye

That questions: why?

I guess I do, Frank. Sometimes, when I'm at the cafe, I'll even secretly put the title and author in Google to see what the other's choice of reading material is all about, BUT it's been only the rare occasion when what I've found as a result of that has actually appealed to me. One time I even went out and bought the book (Nabokov's Lolita), but I still haven't read it. It just sits on my bookshelf. I really don't think my occasional peeking has anything to do with my observational practices as a poet. Sometimes, I'm just bored.

Thanks Tony for your appraisal of the poem. I tried to combine two differential elements in regard to a poetic desire to know stuff in general (that questing thirst in poets) only illustrated by the one example i.e. my curiosity about what others read. Boredom is as good a motivation for most things as anything else and can be assuaged by many a diversion. Frank
