what lies beyond the bend

The Other Side

Blue haze cocoons
the pastel path I stroll.
My cushioned footsteps
almost float forward,
drawn toward the portal
that beckons me to cross through
to the other side.

Lavender air
seeps into my lungs
soothing,
slowing my limbs.

I hesitate at the gate.

Enjoyed the allure Judi. A beguiling temptation, but a sense of uncertainty, Not quite seduced.

muchly enjoyed

Suicidal ideation?!?!? I like how you leave it open-ended. The speaker hesitates, but the reader doesn't know if it's a full stop to be followed by a reversal in course or just a pause.

"Not quite seduced", good observation, badger.

I liked the "lavender air" not merely "lavender scented air".
