from a movie I did not
know shared by
friends while we 
huddle beneath
a Biological Eclipse

The Sun has gone out!

and despite our modernist
claims to understanding
our endless searches
for facts to use
as scalpels axes serrated
and fine-edged implements
for our vivisection
of God’s Body
( if the blood of divinity
makes you squeamish feel-
free to substitute Entrails
of the Real )

our illusions of separateness
and isolation the boundness
of skin eye-sockets the ever-increasing
deafness the particularities of odors
the preferences of taste

are completely undone
the knowing and knowledge
return to a baby’s howling
not in Joy or Sadness
those both will come later
but a senseless Awe

when struck by unfathomable motions
on scales both Cosmic
and Sublime

There's a portentousness in this that's solemn but leans toward the "sublime."
