Alemeye Gammo
Prose being the derivative And younger rival Both poetry and language are ritual There are a separate class of objects Which are called poems in general And we write it in style The poet T.S Eliot suggested that Part of the difficulty lies in the fact There is a technical term verse to go with the term poetry making The French poet Ambroise Paul Toussaint Jules Valéry Once up on a time he said that prose was walking And poetry is dancing The American poet Robert Frost said that shrewdly Poetry was what we got behind in translation What ever comes through is prose To me, prose, poetry and poems are a collection of sentences The second is an inclusion of both, the first is as a paragraph or clauses and the third is a collection of phrases with rhyming lines which are in verses. tonyv
Welcome, Alemeye Gammo. I like your inaugural submittal here in PMO's showcase. It's reminiscent of and seems to be in spirit of Archibald Macleish's "Ars Poetica." Nice work! Tinker
Sorry, I'm late but welcome to PMO Alemeye. Your piece is very clear. I thought it affirming and thought provoking. Anyone can write a poem, but it takes magic to write poetry. I feel blessed when amongst the hundreds of poems that I have written, one of them crosses over the line and can be called poetry. We just keep writing working toward that end. Very nicely expressed although not all poems are rhymed. Losing the rhyme doesn't guarantee the magic and great poetry is often rhymed. So many scenarios. I really enjoyed reading this. ~~Tinker 1 Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
