JoelJosol
I like this form of poetry because it is in the spirit of my favorite Language poets but not totally inaccessible. From a time context, it appears to me two snaps in time. From a setting context, a point of departure and departed. Alongside the meaning associated with the quoted words is the powerful image of a tomb surrounded by "bold white flowers". The ambiguity is there also in the "we" as only one has a clear gender identity. The speaker's gender is not purposely identified. I like the alliteration in "she asks because", "never/Afford therapy", and "solid epitaph". It speaks to me and sounds like something I could say over and over, again. David W. Parsley
Hi doc, in addition to excellent observations by Joel and Tony, I note the Found element here in this poem with innocent colloquialisms juxtaposed to carry heavy emotional weight. How vividly the bindweed springs in with the strength of enduring ties and an innocent beauty, its power to console. dr_con
Sorry Tony, TY! 😉 But which is the epitaph? The Bindweed or the regret? Much appreciation. J Quote thegateless.org
