Chinese Verse

From Lu Shi code,

The Chueh Chu or Regulated Verse (chu = song) is the Chinese "sonnet short cut". It is a verse form that uses Chi Yen Shih and Wu Yen Shi meters.

The elements of the Chueh Chu are:

  1. an 8 line meditation made up of two quatrains of either the Chi Yen Shih or Wu Yen Shih meters or a combination.
  2. rhymed, Variable rhyme schemes may be used, Rhyme schemes may be aaxa xaxa or xbxb xbxb or aaxa aaxa x being unrhymed.

Ancient seer and priest, some think divine.
Li Po loved to sip from cups of rice wine
penned images flowed when sober and drunk.
eons pass, still words touch and define.

    Genius poet- left his mark,
Chinese characters - placed in shrine.
His magic song – enlightens my soul,
    branding this muse of mine.

Juju

Shelter find, great dane and lab mix,
hooligan pup in need of loving discipline.
her big sad eyes lock and fix
on my heart. Too early for tricks.

Though only partly grown, she stretches tall,
bowling over little kids and elders alike,
jumps in your lap, thinking she’s small.
Must train to respond to my call.
