Gunslinger Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I would almost find it funny- If I were not so sad- Perhaps I’d even be amused- If I did not hurt so bad. For years I’ve tried to push away- All who’d have drawn near- I find that I’ve succeeded… Alas, I find me here- A place, that when surrounded- I still am all alone. And those who tried to love me? Their affections are long gone. A place where only echoes- Of pleasure now exist… The good times long since faded- Into near forgotten mists. A place devoid of pleasure- Yet memories remain- And constantly remind me- “You brought about this pain.” I guess it’s only fitting, Since I have made my bed- That I should occupy it Even when they find me dead. tonyv Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Gunslinger, I write most often from my imagination. I hope (for your sake) that the speaker is not the poet, unless it's simply a case of "inspired by real events" loosely based metaphor. Nice work!
