Plants Measure darkness as They sketch their self portraits Into the Moon's canvas they see radiances Of blue, red for flowering, Photoreceptors biographers In houses of light. Winds are like hours Seeking an identity, plant Listens to autumn in Her distant watchtower Who in return listens To the circadian clock. Frost famished winter Eyes a ladybird that Is like an angel who Has missed closing Of heaven's gate, Raindrops falling from Leaves are like keys. The last seven lines are especially atmospheric. I think it would read with more urgency by converting one or two of the similes into pure metaphors or even personifications.
