eclipse
Ghosts of history pushed Against winds, bind Pages from disparate Dreams, book without title, County without a name. Pilgrims came, Scottish, Irish, Pennsylvanian Dutch came. Fortress was built to caress Self contained mystery of The Cherokee. The Land told its story to The skies, yeoman farmers Established ties with small Farms. County called Gaston Was founded In 1846. Impressions of birth, clouds On rivers, shivering wombs Have daughters, cotton Mills, shadows fall across Maps, infrastructure reaped For 175 years. David W. Parsley
Hi Barry, Thematic piece for Thanksgiving here in America. Anything but stereotypical fare, it’s a game attempt at reimagining both the natural and historical context. Such an ambitious effort is bound to be difficult to close. Not sure what to suggest, perhaps a period after “Maps “ then figure out how it should sound from there. Thanks, - David
tonyv
Barry, I have to say I think this is one of your best, a remarkably well-crafted poem. The way you handle the setting/sense-of-place/theme makes me think you belong here.
