Perma-stoned

 

the world dissolves again

this time with full attention

that's an improvement, over

mad certainty that it might be

permanent, that the measure

of a man, is what his career

is, how long suffering his

story, the negotiations

of self staked here

on that rock

 

sacrificed, scarified, for subtle substitutes

for the genuine pursuit of meaning

The pit

is deep

bottom-

 

less, the sense of falling

a permafrost threatened

by soot, CO2, the privileging

of abstraction, capital

over dancing, music

and sweat-as long

 

as we stay in motion

three latitudes per second

it will remain stable

 

O God, take a look

You Bankers and Lawyers and Industrialists

while you dreamed and schemed

creation is about to come

to a full

STOP.

Wow d_c, Sometimes you take us so deep that you lose me, this one kept me right with you right to the bottom. The content clear and challenging. The evidence of your writing skill is displayed in every line.

Reads like a "final warning," Dr. Con. Has the scheming backfired ... or is the outcome part of the plan? The fruits of greed and vanity seem to be coming apparent.

Thanks Tony a deceptively 'true' comment, which reaches the heart of the matter;-)

 

This is one of my more 'polemic' poems- the sort I don't post much these days- but encouraged to do so by a fellow poet, who happened to see it in my compost pile;-)

Wow Dr.Con... How you wrote this poem?! It's wonderful. It sounds very special to me. Unusual. You have very polemical poems, but this one is something special gem of yours.
