Tinker
Today's Surprise Each morning's routine rise, make bed, prepare coffee, feed Molly, offer thanks in prayer, today's weather check, then plan my day, often repeated tasks including some play. Wonder of it is, there's always something, a call or moment, the plan doesn't bring. I just got a call that made me holler. I owe IRS eight thousand dollars! ~~Judi Van Gorder Notes: ▼ The Prompt: "The Unexpected" Verse form: Quatrains, 5 syllable lines with alternate rhyme. My last stanza was going to note yesterday's phone call from someone I have not talked to for over 20 years, huge surprise, we talked for almost an hour. BUT then I received an unexpected phone call from my accountant right when I was completing the 2nd to last stanza. Being self-employed I pay estimated quarterly and I thought I was all paid up. But apparently I made more last year and working from home my expenses were less. Addendum, CPA called back 15 minutes later, he made a mistake, not $8145. I only owe $1249. Thank you Lord! I would have edited but that number doesn't fit the syllable count and I decided to leave the poem as written, with the shock and awe I experienced 15 minutes prior. 1 Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
