The Wise Old Queen Iris

She yearly shows her face in May
on stage in royal purple bold,
her stately presence hints of gold.
The velvet of her tongue daresay,
whispers soft reminder to pray
a thanks for rescue from the cold.
She gayly shows her face in May
on stage in royal purple bold.

Her light fragrance kisses the day
I love to hear her story told
reminding me of days of old.
With timely beauty on display,
she always shows her face in May.
