dr_con
In consideration of the radical proposition: Do words have a Soul? On my shelves, there are books which will never be read cover to cover Not by me, trapped in my words like a coffee-stain on page 33, from someone else an appropriate punctuation it warped the page with the curious claim "All books have one source," and maybe that's true the oral river washing over everything we can sense, but if we leave at "The And return at End", I think you can see where I'm going if you read ahead to the beginning skip the middle bracket "You" with future and past its all obvious: A misunderstood moment passed on by your dad or mom or god just so, an obvious narrative ploy to keep you reading, trapped by the grammar and syntax The only hope of escape a stranger's eyes and ears, rescued from between two covers you can relax, free between (Here) Quote thegateless.org
Tinker
This was interesting DC, I sort of got lost a couple of times (what's new?) but found my way back when I slowed down and then especially when I read it out loud..., I liked it. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
JoelJosol
"Oral river". That's unique. "The only hope of escape". Paging bookworms :-) Quote "Words are not things, and yet they are not non-things either." - Ann Lauterbach
tonyv
Sometimes it certainly seems like they do, Dr. Con! The only hope of escape a stranger's eyes and ears, rescued from between two covers you can relax, free between (Here) Indeed! Words are serious stuff! Lake
dr_con, Your use of caps, line breaks and form always capture my attention. Oftentimes, I have to go back to reread. Agree with Joel, "oral river" is unique. "Do words have a soul"? Good question. I think they do in the hand of a poet. The thought in your poem is, I'm not sure if these terms are correct, metaphysical, surreal...? Regards, Lake
badger11
The coffee stain was the best bit for me, but then I'm not that philosophical...loved the break on 'The' (is this the only line where ending with 'the' is so right? - feels that way) badge
pawn shop
I love the opening.... but I have to tell ya......it declines... I'm sure not all your books are the type of books you just described.... if it IS true...do yourself a favor.... do some kick ass spring cleaning.... never mind selling them... if you have a large yard...burn them..... leave them on a street corner or parking lot.... just keep the really true movers of your eyes type books... Lake- Indeed, a perfect interpretation;-) Badge- Of course, The concrete image, is what your eye and ear seeks- And thank you, that was a very careful The choice;-) PS- Nothing like a good book burning to get the hands warm and the words liberated Many Thanks for dropping in and I hope to catch up with you all soon;-) DC Quote thegateless.org
