Every day celebrates some life event.  Some officially and others just because.
In this thread write a spontaneous celebration in verse for whatever day you happen here.
Theme, form, and length are your choice.
Let's celebrate living with our words.

July 2, 2023  World UFO Day

Who Are They?

Below the stars, they hover,
watching, waiting to discover
who we are and what we do,
adjusting to get a better view.
With antennae on their heads
they scan us sleeping in our beds.
It seems so far, they mean no harm
but, we may be their future farm.

A new silly Verse Form, The Footle.  Found on the internet, a rhymed couplet with mono trochaic lines. It's the rhyming that makes it difficult.

Today is July 4th, Independence Day

Diamonds in the Sky

BBQ meats on the grill.
salads, cake, and corn,
Come on, eat your fill.

It's the Fourth of July
and tonight diamonds
will explode into the sky.

Birthstone, birthright,
Freedom in plain sight.

A few days late for Winter Solstice

2023 #37

timid winter sun
peeks out from behind grey clouds
off grid, sun power

Today July 19, 2024 is New Friends Day

Reach across the aisle

Ask to sit with a stranger,
memorize their name,
keep a smile on your face
love in your heart,
                          and listen.

Today July 21, 2024 is US National Junk Food Day

Caving In

It has been years
since I truly indulged.
My health primary.
Luckily I live in rural America
plentiful organic produce,
no fast food drive-ins.

But once in a while,
I just have to have a donut.
Deep fried, sweet risen dough,
sugared or frosted, YUM!
