II. Sanskrit Poetry

Crossing over from Vedic to improved Sanskrit (meaning perfected) language, there was an overlapping period and from 700 B.C. thru 1100 A.D. Sanskrit poets provided narrative and heroic tales. The longest poem in the world is Sanskrit, the Mahabharata which is over 100,000 verses long. It was written by many poets and contains the Bhagavad-gita which by many is considered one of the greatest poems in world literature and has been translated into every major language.

The throne of flowers made in the garden is empty [because You are not here];
the sport at the side of Kadamb³ tree is missing too.
The river Yamuna is consistently flowing with the rhythm of her waves imitating a cry;
even she is missing Your presence. [[3.]]

----------------------Song of Separation

Sanskrit poetry often celebrates erotic mysticism, where there is (love, desire) there is also Rati (sexual delight), they are not separated.
